Rabat is a cultural city steeped in history. Many masterpieces decorate its streets and squares. Visit the Kasbah des Oudayas: a majestic and formidable silhouette softened by the surrounding gardens. Not far from the walls rise the walls of Chellah, a necropolis from the time of the Merinids. Crossing the enclosure is like entering another world: you walk among ancient remains, among gardens and storks.
Pick up from your hotel in Tangier at 07:00 am and departure to Rabat via the highway, Upon arrival to Rabat, you’ll be joined by your local English speaking guide.
The visit will start at Chellah or Sala Colonia which is a necropolis and complex of ancient Roman Mauritania Tingitana and medieval ruins at the outskirts of Rabat; it is the most ancient human settlement on the mouth of the Bouregreg River.
Next you have the chance to see the Hassan Tower which is a minaret of an incomplete mosque, this tower was intended to be the largest minaret in the world along with its mosque but the work stopped just after the death of Yaakub Al Mansour.
Other wonderful places to visit are: Mohammed V Mausoleum, Ouddayas Kasbah.
Optional Lunch in a Local Moroccan Restaurant (own expenses), After having some time to rest, the whole afternoon will be devoted to the discovery of the Medina which is the old part of Rabat city: Here you can immerse yourself in the beautiful cacophony of the colored Souks
By the end of this visit you’ll be transferred back to your hotel in Tangier.
