In the far north of Morocco, the city of Tangier invites travelers. On its coasts where the Mediterranean and Atlantic waters converge, you discover an authentic city rocked by varied influences.
Take a stroll through White Tangier. Stroll through the streets lined with whitewashed houses and, like Matisse before you, like Delacroix too, let yourself be carried away by this dreamlike air that emanates from the city. Get lost in the aisles of the great “Socco”; at the foot of the high walls of the “Kasbah”, admire the fortress which dominates the medina. Not far away is the “Sultan Palace” today dedicated to the arts of Morocco. Tangier also has Spanish influences with an arena that stands on the “Plaza de Torros”, not to mention the “Cervantes” theater built in 1913.
You will start by an interesting drive through the new part of the city, ‘California’ that is considered to be the richest area of Tangier’s zone of villas and palaces passing via the king's palace and celebrities homes.
Visit Cape Spartel, which is the northest western point of Africa, it is the exact point where the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean meet. Then visit the Caves of Hercules (dating from the Neolithic era). A stop to take pictures of the camels and if you like to experience a ride.
After a short drive, return to Tangier for lunch in a traditional Moroccan restaurant(own expenses), and then start the cultural tour, which will be in the Kasbah and the Medina: the oldest and the most exotic part of this mythical city.
An opportunity to be in direct contact with the friendly locals! Begin your tour of the old city by visiting the Kasbah with its beautiful museum (The sultan’s Palace) taking the itinerary of Matisse, the French famous painter who stayed here between 1912 and 1913
In the Medina, you will enjoy the world famous Moroccan markets, culture and maybe visit a traditional bakery. You will also get to visit Gran Socco, Petit Socco, and if we get sometime visit the Old American Legation, founded in 1821 (the 1st National Landscape for the USA in the overseas), and the Mendoubia building and Gardens (The international administration when Tangier was under-control of 8 powerful countries).
In the Medina, you will enjoy the world famous Moroccan markets, culture and maybe visit a traditional bakery. Optional lunch
We will finish either by some free time or some shopping in the Medina.
