In the far north of Morocco, the city of Tangier invites travelers. On its coasts where the Mediterranean and Atlantic waters converge, you discover an authentic city rocked by varied influences.
Take a stroll through White Tangier. Stroll through the streets lined with whitewashed houses and, like Matisse before you, like Delacroix too, let yourself be carried away by this dreamlike air that emanates from the city. Get lost in the aisles of the great “Socco”; at the foot of the high walls of the “Kasbah”, admire the fortress which dominates the medina. Not far away is the “Sultan Palace” today dedicated to the arts of Morocco. Tangier also has Spanish influences with an arena that stands on the “Plaza de Torros”, not to mention the “Cervantes” theater built in 1913.
Meet at your accommodation at 10 am or elsewhere by prior arrangement See part of the new city passing by the beach front where almost of the restaurants and night clubs are located, then cross the main avenue of Mohammed V to get to the 9th April Square by the main gate entrance into the Medina (old city)
Visit the Anglo Saxon church of St Andrew then visit of the market at the Gran Socco before getting into the narrow alleys of the old city and the Petit Socco.
Get to the Kasbah (15th century fortification) and a superb view of the medina (old city)
Visit a 17th century Sultan’s palace that is currently a museum containing many fascinating antiquities including Roman remains.
From Bab Bhar (the gate into the sea), you can see the terrace overlooking the straits of Gibraltar, continue down through the labyrinth streets and alleyways of the medina following the Matisse Route (which takes in points of interest related to the famous artist Henry Matisse)
Finally visit the Mendoubia.
End of the visit and transfer back to your hotel.
